Nick Orman is the Deputy Director at the Texas General Land Office (GLO). Prior to his appointment as Deputy Director, he spent nearly a decade in the Office of General Counsel, working in both the Public Lands Section and the Oil, Gas, and Energy Section. In his current role, Nick oversees the Energy Resources Division, which is responsible for hard mineral and oil and gas leasing of public lands, as well as other energy‑related initiatives such as rare earths, produced water, geothermal leasing, and carbon sequestration, among others.

Nick has worked for each of the last three Texas Land Commissioners – Commissioners Patterson, Bush, and Buckingham. Nick attended both the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.  He received his J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law where he graduated with a public service distinction. He has spoken at a number of State Bar seminars and luncheons covering various topics related to public lands and minerals.
